The 2000+ hat Collection is made from either 100% wool felt or straw. Wool is a renewable resource, as the sheep will keep growing new coats of wool over their lifetime. The production of wool felt relies on organized farming of sheep world wide, maintaining a steady supply of the raw material. The straw used for the 2000+ Hat Collection is a rapidly renewable plant fiber and an abundant resource.

Biodegradable / Compostable

Because wool is an animal derived product and the straw a plant fiber they will both biodegrade under the right set of conditions.

Design

Manufactured by one of the last remaining millineries in the United States, the 2000+ Hat Collection is a way to transform and repurpose local industry. The shapes, colors and details are the result of employing the manufacturer’s skills and technology to create a product that fits an alternative and growing market.

Origin

Made in the United States from locally sourced materials. Manufacturing locations were selected for their proximity to our studio as well as for their practices and labor conditions.

Small: 21-25 inches (54-55 cm)
Medium: 22-22.5 inches (56-57 cm)
Large: 23-23.5 inches (58-59 cm)

Materials

Molded wool or straw

To remove dust and dirt use a lint remover or tape. Light stains may be removed with low grit sandpaper. Sand very lightly in the same direction as the fibers removing only the stained fibers. To re-harden your hat you may apply heavy starch on the inside and let dry completely.

Using traditional felt molding technologies and local manufacturers the 2000+ Hat Collection makes use of the natural properties of wool felt and straw to create a unique hand crafted headwear.
