Employment Opportunities

Position: Studio and Operations Assistant

About the candidates: We are looking for an energetic and driven Studio and Operations Assistant to join our team. You will be responsible for providing friendly customer service to our online customers, establishing and maintaining studio services, supporting an organized and enjoyable work environment and assisting our Managing Director with daily operations.

Responsibilities:

- Provide customer service, take phone orders and answer customer inquiries on the phone and online.

- Approx. 30% of time to prepare daily shipments (pick and pack product -heaviest product is 18 lb.), print labels and process orders. 

- Greet clients and accept packages.

- Order office supplies, distribute mail, water plants, and order lunches for meetings.

- Monitor and maintain an organized, well-stocked, and creative office environment.

- Run errands as needed.

- Manage and help maintain office and equipment.

- Compile monthly expense reports and assist with financial transactions.

- Assist in making travel arrangements.

- Support staff as needed during projects.

About You:

- High School graduate, College student or College Graduate (this is a great part time starter gig). 

- Fast learner, passionate about art, design and the environment, Proactive, high-energy, and reliable.

- Great interpersonal skills with team, clients and visitors.

- Organized and detail-oriented.

- Team player who sees projects through to completion.

- Proficient web and computer user, including Microsoft Office and Gmail.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Good at Multitasking.

- Have a valid drivers license. 

Compensation:

Hourly rate ranging between $10 - $15 - depending on candidate experience.

 

Position: Junior Industrial Designer

About the candidates: We are looking for well-rounded team oriented candidates with a passion for design and a desire to have a positive impact on the world. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, well organized and constantly learning new technical skills. The candidate must have a strong visual sensibility that is material and process driven, you must be flexible and be able to manage multiple assignments at once.

Your work is human-centered and combines technical rigor with beauty. You have strong, verbal, written and visual presentation skills. You are both a thinker and a doer. You welcome new challenges and new visions of the future and the role of design.

Requirements:

- Must be able to quickly sketch and prototype ideas

- Must be highly proficient in SolidWorks (3D CAD Skills)

- Must be fluent in Illustrator, Photoshop

- Must have basic knowledge in Excel, Word and InDesign

- Must be able to adapt your style to suit the client’s needs and their customer’s requirements

-Must be energetic, curious and persistent

-Must be enrolled or have a undergraduate or graduate degree in Industrial design or equivalent

 

Internship Information

Our internship program is open to a variety of graduate and undergraduate students (juniors or seniors, please) in fields related to design, business and the environment. The program is designed to give students the opportunity to participate in our day-to-day operations. Candidates who are selected to be a part of our team will be working on all aspects of our company. We offer full-time and part-time unpaid internships with a minimum requirement of 24 hours per week for a minimum of three months.

Industrial Design Internship Opportunities

Position: Industrial Design Intern - Operations Assistant

Duration: 3-6 months with a minimum of 24 on site weekly hours

About the candidates: We are looking for motivated designers, self-starters, organized and efficient individuals who want to be part of the exciting work we are developing for MIO and our consulting clients.

Requirements:

-Must be able to gather research data and translate it into meaningful design directions

-Must be able to quickly sketch and prototype ideas

-Must be able to adapt your style to suit the client’s needs and their customer’s requirements

-Must be enrolled or have a degree in Industrial design or equivalent

-Must be fluent in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, Word and some CAD software

Marketing Internship Opportunities

Position: Marketing and Social Media Assistant

Duration: 3-6 months with a minimum of 24 on site weekly hours

About the candidates: We are looking for self-starters, organized and efficient individuals who want to be part of the exciting work we do at MIO.

Requirements:

-Must be able to develop content and content strategies for social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, newsletters and Vimeo

-Must be able to perform website maintenance and updates (candidates with basic HTML, Dreamweaver and database management skills or equivalent are preferred but not required.)

-Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-Must be able to manage press relationships and respond to media inquiries

-Must be organized, meticulous and data driven
