PaperForms are fairly resilient. However, they can be crushed if they are kicked, punched, stepped on or bumped. The tiles will last longer in low traffic areas. They work best when installed above hip level, on ceilings or as accents where they will not be constantly handled. If tiles are damaged, the modular application allows replacement of single tiles.

  • How do I install PaperForms wallpaper?

Nomad System

  • How do I figure out how many boxes I need?

To find out how many boxes you need multiply the length times the width of the wall you would like to build in feet. For example if you would like an 8 Foot tall by 10 Foot wide wall you would first multiply 8 x 10 = 80 sq. ft. Then you would take the result and divided it by 14 for a wall in the closed configuration or by 20.25 for an open configuration wall. Each box of Nomad contains 14 Square Feet (when assembled in the closed configuration) or 20.25 Square Feet (when assembled in the open configuration). In the example above you would divide as follows: 80 / 14 = 5.714   This means you would need to purchase 6 boxes to build the wall in the closed configuration or based on the following division: 80 / 20.25 = 3.9 only 4 boxes.

  • How many modules come in a box?

The Nomad System is available in packs of 24 modules. One 24-module pack creates a 4.5 x 4.5 foot (1.4 x 1.4 m) section in the open configuration which is roughly 14 Square feet. The closed configuration provides a 3 x 4.5 foot (1 x 1.4 m) section approximately, or roughly 20.25 Square Feet.

  • How durable is the Nomad System?

The Nomad System is fairly resilient, although the modules will crush if they are kicked, punched, stepped on or bumped. Individual modules can be easily replaced. Please recycle damaged or unwanted modules. Nomad is suitable for commercial and residential applications. The product has been used in retai, trade shows, event design, stage design and numerous other applications that require sturdy cost effective space dividers.

Butterfly Nomad System

  • Does the Butterfly Nomad work with the standard Nomad System?

They work together but must be combined in an even fashion throughout the assembly. In other words a solid wall can not be connected with a wall that mixes Butterfly Nomad and Nomad System combined very easily. Parts of Nomad can be cut with a straight edge to achieve this.

  • How do I figure out how many boxes I need?

To find out how many boxes you need multiply the length times the width of the wall you would like to build in feet. For example if you would like an 8 Foot tall by 10 Foot wide wall you would first multiply 8 x 10 = 80 sq. ft. Then you would take the result and divided it by 20. Each box of Butterfly Nomad contains 20 Square Feet. In the example above you would divide as follows: 80 / 20 = 4  This means you would need to purchase 4 boxes to build the desired wall.

  • How many modules come in a box?

The Butterfly Nomad System is available in packs of 24 modules. One 24-module pack has a section inof wall roughly 20 Square feet in size.

  • How durable is the Butterfly Nomad System?

The Butterfly Nomad System is fairly resilient, although the modules will crush if they are kicked, punched, stepped on or bumped. Individual modules can be easily replaced. Please recycle damaged or unwanted modules.

  • How do I clean the Butterfly Nomad System?

The Nomad System should be dusted or vacuumed regularly. Minor stains and dirt can be removed with a lightly damp cloth.

  • Is this product child safe?

Butterfly nomad is made from recycled cardboard and printed with soy-based inks. The product can be used as a toy but we recommend it is played with under adult supervision. Nomad System and Butterfly Nomad System should not be used as load bearing structures. Paper and cardboard can be sharp and dangerous when used inappropriately.

FoldScapes

  • Are FoldScapes fire rated for commercial use?

FoldScapes are currently not ASTM tested. MIO currently offers commercial tiles that have been treated with a fire retardant. For special orders requiring certificates please call us for pricing and additional details: 1-888-563-3916

  • How many boxes of FoldScapes will I need to cover my ceiling?

Each box of FoldScapes includes 24 two by two feet tiles. To figure out how many tiles you need count the whole tiles on your grid and divide it by 24. Perimeter tiles (Square FoldScapes) are sold in packs of 4 or 24.

  • How many tiles come in a box?

All FoldScapes are available in packs of 24 tiles and Square FoldScapes are also available in packs of 4 Tiles.

  • Are the tiles hard to fold?

The tiles are very easy to fold. Make sure to follow the instructions, place them on a clean, even, flat surface and take your time folding and creasing to avoid creasing them in the wrong place.

For more details visit our how to videos page:

    http://vimeo.com/mioculture

  • How do I work around sprinklers and light fixtures?

The best solution for sprinklers and other ceiling fixtures is to use our Square FoldScapes. These can be easily cut and installed around any fixture. The tiles can be cut with a straight edge and a utility knife. For best results measure the space you need to fill and draw it out lightly in pencil on the brown side of the tile before cutting.

  • Can the FoldScapes be installed with can lights (inset lighting)?

Square FoldScapes can be used with can lights however the tiles are not designed to bear any weight so all lighting fixtures MUST be secured to structural parts of the ceiling.

  • Do you offer FoldScapes for a 2 x 4 foot drop-ceiling grid?

FoldScapes are currently available only in a two by two foot tile format, however two by four foot grids can be easily converted using standard two-foot 1" T-bar grids. These can be found at most home improvement stores sold as singles or in larger quantity boxes. If you can't find them please call us toll free: 1-888-563-3916

  • How deep are the tiles?

Dimensions for each tile can be found on the details tab. Here are the dimensions in case you missed them:)

    Bloom: Length: 34 in / 86 cm Width: 34.75 in / 88 cm Height: 4 in / 10 cm

    Peak: Length: 36 in / 91 cm Width: 34 in / 86 cm Height: 6 in / 15 cm

    Crystal: Length: 33 in / 84 cm Width: 39.75 in / 101 cm Height: 7.5 in / 19 cm

    Square: Length: 23.75 in / 60 cm Width: 23.75 in / 60 cm

  • How durable are the tiles?

FoldScapes are durable enough to withstand the normal use of drop-ceiling tiles. Like conventional tiles excessive humidity and water will damage the tiles but the tiles can be easily replaced. Stained, dented or otherwise damaged tiles can be recycled with conventional curbside or office recycling as they are made of cardboard.

  • Can I install FoldScapes without a drop-ceiling grid?

Standard 1" T-bar grid is required for drop ceiling installations. Our tiles will not work with 1/2" or 9/16" slim-line grids. FoldScapes have been used as backdrops and as decoration in a variety of applications using other methods of installation. The tiles can be stapled, nailed or even taped to various surfaces (although they are not designed for these types of installations and we make no warranties as to the safety and efficacy of other uses).

The raw material used to make the non-woven is virgin HDPE that is extruded into the thin filaments, however being made from a single material allows it to be more easily recycled.

Ideally you should remove any hardware, stitching or adhesives, but limited amounts are acceptable for recycling. If you are unsure about a material that was bonded or attached to Loop By the yard, please email or call us for additional information.

  • What are the environmental attributes of Loop By the Yard?

Loop By The Yard is a product-service-system. The first of its kind, Loop By the Yard blends a do-it-yourself material, an existing recycling infrastructure, and a free recycling program. This approach is not common today and is especially difficult for smaller organizations. MIO is taking on the challenge, identifying the opportunities in the system and applying them to future developments.

  • What is the environmental impact of Tyvek, the raw material used in Loop By the Yard?

Tyvek is made from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE. Although Tyvek products are marked with the #2 resin-code for HDPE, they are not usually collected via curbside recycling programs. Instead, DuPont runs a mail-in recycling program in the United States for Tyvek products. Our environmental goal at MIO is to use this existing recycling infrastructure as a test bed to develop a take-back program for our Tyvek-based products.

  • What are the applications with the least amount of environmental impact?

Loop By the Yard should be used in applications that would otherwise require a durable textile-like material. The application should match the product’s durability. For instance, if you plan on using Loop By the Yard as tablecloth, it should be used as a tablecloth again and again. In general terms, if you would use a textile for something, then you can use Loop for it to great effect.
