Water-based wallpaper pastes such as Golden Harvest GH-80 by Roman Adhesives or similar pastes may be used when installing tiles permanently. Other pastes for heavy wallpaper or vinyl may be sprayed or rolled on as recommended by installers or contractors. Tiles may also be installed permanently with spray adhesives such as 3M¨ Super 77¨ and photo mount spray adhesives as well as mechanical means including nails, staples and screws. Please see the installation instructions included with your order for more information. If you are unsure about a specific adhesive or installation method, please contact us.

Loop by the Yard

How do I recycle Loop By the Yard?
Place your scraps and unwanted projects in an envelope or the sewn on pouch of Loop garments. Seal the envelope and email or call us to receive FREE postage via email. Deposit the Loop product in the nearest Fedex drop box or location.

How is Loop By the Yard made?
According to Dupont® , the manufacturer of the raw material, Loop By the Yard is made in the following way: High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) fibers are spun and then bonded together by heat and pressure without any binders. The result is a non-woven material where the filaments do not have a prescribed direction. Instead they are randomly and evenly distributed before being bonded. The raw material used to make the non-woven is virgin HDPE that is extruded into the thin filaments, however being made from a single material allows it to be more easily recycled.

What is the environmental impact of Tyvek® , the raw material used in Loop By the Yard?
Tyvek® is made from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE. Although Tyvek® products are marked with the #2 resin-code for HDPE, they are not usually collected via curbside recycling programs. Instead, DuPont® runs a mail-in recycling program in the United States for Tyvek® products. Our environmental goal at MIO is to use this existing recycling infrastructure as a test bed to develop a take-back program for our Tyvek® -based products.

What are the environmental attributes of Loop By the Yard?
Loop By The Yard is a product-service-system. The first of its kind, Loop By the Yard blends a do-it-yourself material, an existing recycling infrastructure, and a free recycling program. This approach is not common today and is especially difficult for smaller organizations. MIO is taking on the challenge, identifying the opportunities in the system and applying them to future developments.

Can I return scraps that have stitching, glue and other materials attached or fastened?
Ideally you should remove any hardware, stitching or adhesives, but limited amounts are acceptable for recycling. If you are unsure about a material that was bonded or attached to Loop By the yard, please email or call us for additional information.

What are the applications with the least amount of environmental impact?
Loop By the Yard should be used in applications that would otherwise require a durable textile-like material. The application should match the product’s durability. For instance, if you plan on using Loop By the Yard as tablecloth, it should be used as a tablecloth again and again. In general terms, if you would use a textile for something, then you can use Loop for it to great effect.

Is Loop By the Yard waterproof? Can it be used outdoors?
Yes! Loop is waterproof and can be used as ponchos, raincoats, bags, tents, etc.

How do I clean Loop By the Yard?
We do not recommend machine washing Loop By the Yard. However, it can be cleaned with water and mild soap or non-toxic cleaning agents.
